Christ Church Parish Endowment Board

Mission: The Vestry established the Endowment Board in 2011 to "Enable the Parish to more completely fulfil its mission by......assuring viability and developing ministries beyond what is possible with operating funds".  The Endowment Fund Board has created, and the Vestry has approved, the financial structure and documents required for a well managed endowment.  These include policies for accepting gifts, investing money, and allocating funds.

Meeting Schedule:  Monthly on the fourth Friday at 9:00 AM in the Parish Hall.

Christian stewardship involves the faithful management of all the gifts God has given to humankind - time, talent, the created world and money, includMiing accumulated, inherited and appreciated assets.  Christians can give to the work of the Church through a variety of gift vehicles, in addition to cash and securities, including bequests in wills, charitable remainder trusts and other life income gifts, other trusts, life insurance policies, real estate, securities and other property.

It is the desire of the parish to encourage, receive and administer these gifts in a manner faithful to the loyalty and devotion to God expressed by the donors, and in accord with the canons of the Episcopal Church and the Diocese of Virginia, and the policies of this parish.

The fund was established as a true endowment, meaning the principal cannot be invaded, except as spelled out in the enabling resolution for a dire emergency or major capital improvement.  In addition, the spending policy established that there be no distribution of earnings until the principal balance totals $250,000.

Contributions you make will be allocated within the following six designations per your wishes:

  1. Undesignated funds for purposes as directed by the Vestry.  Intended to be used where the need is greatest,
  2. Church maintenance and upkeep of existing church facilities, including historic preservation,
  3. Worship and music, including the funding of non-structural improvements, vestment replacement, and augmentation of vested vessels, flagons, etc. ,
  4. Outreach and new missions which fund activities to alleviate human suffering and to proclaim the gospel in the parish, the wider community, and the world,
  5. Christian education of congregation and church staff,
  6. Capital improvements including renovation of an existing building and new construction, and
  7. Cemetery.
