EDITORS NOTE: “Cinco de Mayo” translates to "The Fifth of May" and is a Mexican Holiday celebrating the Battle of Puebla, which took place on May 5, 1862. It was one of the few Mexican victories during France's attempt to colonize Mexico. By seizing Mexico, France would have exploited its natural resources and supported the Confederacy in the Civil War.
