If you seek a family outing that offers family fun, bonding, camaraderie, and literally “squeal appeal,” join Cub Scout Pack 341 for its annual Pinewood Derby. Doors open at 4 pm, and the race begins at 4:30 pm. All are welcome to join in the fun!
With 26 on the roster, Cub Scout Pack members range in ages from 5 to 11. They have been working hard since February 6th, designing, creating, carving, and adding their special touches to their “vehicles” for the Derby. 26 cars will be handed out to the Scouts so that all can participate, said Cubmaster Mark Fatigato. “We have a track ready for action, and it is indeed an action-packed event,” he noted.
During the heat of the race, high-pitched squeals of excitement will accompany the cars as they race to the finish line. There will be an awards ceremony at the conclusion of the race, and refreshments will be served to the Scouts and their parents/families.
Cubmaster Fatigato pointed out that the Pinewood Derby is “a special event that educates the Scouts in technology, engineering, physics, planning and creativity.” Scouts are introduced to the branches of science in a fun, creative way that whets their appetites for more learning.
Interested in Cub Scout membership for your child? Fatigato noted that all their leaders are advocates for Cub Scouts and recruiting, and they will be attending the derby race.
