Outreach Ministry

Purpose:   The purpose of our Outreach Ministry is to offer assistance to those in need in our local community.   This purpose is achieved in collaboration with our clergy and others in our congregation.

Consistent with our church’s mission (We are a family of faith, growing in Christ through learning, service and worship, who strive to love God and to love our neighbors as ourselves) our mission is to strive to love God and our neighbors as ourselves through service to our community.

Membership:  We shall have up to 8 members.  The membership should include an 8:00 am and 10:30 am service person, ideally a board member of both the ECW and Brotherhood, our Priest, Deacon, and Vestry liaison.  At the January meeting, the members shall elect a Chairperson to set the agenda and preside over the meetings.  A Secretary will be assigned to take minutes and distribute to members prior to the next meeting, as well as to the Vestry, ECW, Brotherhood, and any committee where there may be some overlap.   This is in an effort to coordinate the activities of the church.   Each of our members will be a liaison to a local nonprofit, including such organizations as Hands Across Middlesex, Habitat for Humanity, YMCA/Hartfield, Lift Children of Middlesex, and many more.

Goals:  Christ Church Parish partners with other non-profit organizations and churches to support the community.  All of us are dedicated to making life better for those less fortunate.  Our partnerships typically provide volunteer hours but may also be funds when and where appropriate.   We also encourage and participate in outreach activities undertaken independently by members of our own parish, for example a Fine Arts Camp for local students.

Activities:   Some examples illustrate a few of the Outreach Ministry’s many efforts in recent years.

  • Building homes with Habitat for Humanity
  • Helping to provide warm clothing and food assistance with Hands Across Middlesex
  • Collecting school supplies, books, and personal essentials for clients of Middlesex County Social Services
  • Offering gifts of thanks and appreciation to our schools during Teacher Appreciation Week
  • Providing Christmas gifts for children in needy families

Meeting Day & Time: Until further notice Outreach meetings are expected to be held regularly in the Parish Hall on the second Wednesday of each month at 10:15 am after the Wednesday Eucharist.  Feel free to contact the chair if you require confirmation of a specific meeting date and location.
